food-minded friends of san diego: do you have plans for this saturday, march 19th between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.? rarely do i use groove food as a forum for event promotion, but i don't want you to miss the chance to experience this collaboration of food and art at san diego's thumbprint gallery that also benefits a farm i am proud to support. a handful of talented local chefs chose themes and were paired off with visual artists for collaborative projects that open up the dialogue about food and art. matt kiser will be performing a live food demonstration, music by kayvon of flowolf will further flood your senses, and wine and hor d'ouevres will sustain you on your journey. there is no cover! go & enjoy! perhaps my favorite thing about this event is that 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the pieces will be donated to archi's acres, a local organic farm that not only grows the most clean, bright basil this pesto-lover has ever stumbled upon, but employs and trains active duty military and veterans in sustainable agriculture. i hope to see many of you there--the details:
